On 19th September 2014 a savage fire spread through the coastal resort of Viskop situated at the mouth of the Chefani river in Chintsa; fanned by a strong south-westerly wind the fire ripped through ten thatched houses of the total twenty-two in a matter of minutes. Luckily no-one was physically harmed in the fires but the homeowners suffered losses of a multitude of possessions as well as huge damages to their beautiful holiday homes.
Bosazza Roofing was contracted to re-construct and install the roofs of five homes. As an alternative to thatch, homeowners took the decision to use cement tiles on the roofs.
Roof One: 333 sq.m (Main House & Garage)
Scope of Works: Installation of roof trusses, reflective sheet insulation, fitting of brandering and cement tiles, dry ridging systems, all eave ceilings
Completion Date: November 2015
Roof Two: 285 sq.m
Scope of Works: Fitting of trussed roof including all pre-fabricated trusses, reflective sheet insulation, bracing, tiles, fascia and eave ceilings.
Although this roof is extremely simple from the outside it has a spectacular central area with exposed trusses to open up the living space. Bosazza Roofing installed the large laminated lintel and supports beams to create the trusses as well as exposed ceilings in this area.

Roof Three: 245 sq.m
Scope of Works: Installation of new roof including pre-fabricated trusses, roof tiles and insulation, all eave ceilings; fitting of tongue and groove pine ceilings in between trusses to create exposed truss areas; torch-on waterproofing of flat roof at back of house which holds solar panel

Roof Four: 400 sq.m
Scope of Works: Construction and installation of new roof including pre-fabricated trusses and custom laminated beams; installation of reflective sheet insulation, timber framework and cement tiles, dry ridging systems; fitting of internal ceilings; eave ceilings.
The ceilings in this house used a variety of styles – in the main living area the ceiling was vaulted with tongue and groove nutec ceilings, flat ceilings were used in the braai and kitchen areas with the same tongue and groove pattern. Bedrooms were also flat ceilings but with a smooth, skimmed plasterboard.

Scope of Works: Installation of large trussed roof including insulation, bracing, loading of tiles and dry ridging system; installation of ceilings on both ground and first floors.
