A New Thatched Roof on Wonkmuntu Conference Centre

In 2012 Cintsa Thatching Cc. was commissioned to construct the highly engineered roof structure in poles, for the new thatched conference centre just outside of Mthatha in the Eastern Cape. We also thatched the “double” roof, and installed custom-made triangular windows into the thatch to allow more light to enter the building. You can see the thatched conference on your left hand-side as you drive past Mthatha Ultra City, towards Mthatha, on the N2.

Mthatha Dam Conference Centre gets a New Roof

Approximate Value of Contract: R 1 050 000.00

In 2011 Cintsa Thatching Cc. was awarded the tender to construct and thatch a highly engineered roof for the new conference centre at Mthatha Dam. We worked as a subcontractor under the main contractor: UWP Construction. As well as building and thatching the roof, the scope of works also included installing custom-made triangular windows, application of thatch fire protection and thatching a small bar area inside.

In 2014 we also thatched an entrance gate at the Conference Centre.

Project: King Sandiles Cultural Centre

In 2005 Cintsa Thatching were awarded the thatching and pole work at King Sandiles Cultural Centre. The project included thatching all accommodation units, the main house and a conference centre. Cintsa Thatching additionally built the mezzanine floor in the conference centre with railings, and designed and built the bar.
